Festival greetings
ITANAGAR, Jan 10: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma has conveyed warm greetings to people of state on the festive occasion of Sarok. He expressed his hope that the festivity will usher in contentment, peace and joy for all.

Chief Minister Nabam Tuki also has extended his sincere and heartfelt greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh on the auspicious occasion of Sarok festival.
In his festival message, Tuki said “festivals indeed strengthen the emotional integration and foster the feelings of brotherhood and mutual understanding amongst our citizens”. The chief minister further believed that Sarok would bring with it prosperity, love, and universal peace besides encouraging communal harmony in the state.
Nine houses gutted in Dapo and Dumpo

DAPORIJO, Jan 10: As many as nine houses were gutted in three fire incidents in Daporijo and Dumporijo area in the first week of the January.
On January 8 at around 1.30 am two houses were gutted at Upper forest colony, Daporijo. Properties worth lakh of rupees reduced to ashes as the fire tender could not reach the spot due to narrow passage of the road. The cause of the fire is not known. However, the owner of the house suspects foul play in the fire incident. All the family members were away from the home and in relative’s house when the incident occurred.
Earlier on January 2, devastating fire devoured six houses near GREF colony, Daporijo causing loss of properties worth crore of rupees.
Again at Dumporijo market area, a house was burnt down on the first day of new year ( January 1).
Free medical camp
ITANAGAR, Jan 10: The All Bameng Constituency Social Welfare Association in collaboration with Karuna Trust, NRHM conducted a free medical camp at Chagia camp under Khenewa circle of East Kameng district on January 4 last.
A doctor with two nurses from PHC, Bameng attended to about 100 patients from Sangbia, Paffa, Raje, Kawa, Khora and Marjingla villages.

ITANAGAR, Jan 10: As per directives of Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, with the rest of the country Arunachal Pradesh Police, Traffic Cell is observing the 25th Road Safety Week from January 11 to 17 next with the theme – ‘When on the road, always say Pehle Aap’.
IAS officers on study tour
Changlang, Jan 10: A group of 18 IAS officers under probation, including four ladies, who are on study tour arrived here at Changlang today. The officers are scheduled to continue their studies for another three days in the district.
In a brief meeting the Deputy Commissioner, Changlang Chanchal Yadav briefed the visiting officers upon the profile of the district its natural resources and vegetation through power point presentation. “Enquiry has to be set up against the projects as some of the projects were practically not done yet the payments were made at 50:50 ratio which were done through the basis of political influence. It is totally indigestive practice and such practice has to be eradicated and appropriate action has to be taken against the erring officials involved,” it asserted.

AMSU seeks action against officers, ban on hunting
ITANAGAR, Jan 10: Reiterating its claim that one Gyamar Naga/Tama was shot dead by his friend during a hunting expedition on January 3 last in the forest area of Old Mengio village, the All Mengio Students’ Union (AMSU) has expressed disappointment that even after so many days of the happening no representative from the district administration, EAC and CO, have reached the area for taking stock of the situation.
In its letter to the chief secretary, saying that the accused is on the run since the incident, it sought for sending additional forces to trace him out.
It further asked to make enquiry into the whole incident and to suspend the officers for dereliction of government duty.

Governor urges Scouts and Guides to prepare to meet any challenge
ITANAGAR, Jan 10: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma today advised the Scouts and Guides to prepare themselves to meet any challenge in future. He was addressing at the 15th Rajya Puraskar Award giving ceremony held at Raj Bhawan here today. PPA seeks report on Govt assets in other states
ITANAGAR, Jan 10: The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) today urged the Congress Govt to disclose before the public of the state, the actual status of Arunachal Bhavan at Wasi in Navi Mumbai, the utilization details of the upfront money received from the US roof, action taken against the company for violating the terms of reference, total space to be allotted for Arunachal out of the multistoried building and also the justification for allotting the prime land to the developers.
The Party President Nikh Kamin lambasted the ruling Congress regime for, what he said, mortgaging the prime land at Salt Lake meant for Arunachal Bhavan in Kolkata to private builders at a throw away price. Alleging secret dealing with the Real estate Mafias which the party said caused huge losses to the State exchequer as the standard laid down procedures like competitive bidding process through open advertisement was intentionally avoided, Kamin said “although the then Chief Secretary had suggested for realization of Rs 10 crore to the state exchequer as upfront fee, the present Govt. turned down the suggestion on the ground that the Salt Lake area does not fall under prime location.”

Sarok festival begins with fanfare
SEPPA, Jan 10: The 38th Sarok Festival celebration of AKA (KORO) community of East Kameng began yesterday at Yangsey (Bana) with much fanfare and traditional favour. Sarok is celebrated to pray mother earth for welfare of mankind as a whole and to do away with evil spirit. Sarok according to them is the supreme authority of the living things exist on earth.

District task force meeting held
YUPIA, Jan 10: DHS, Yupia conducted a one day District Task Force Meeting on IPPI alongside District Level School Health Programme (SHP) stakeholders Meeting at Deputy Commissioners Conference Hall today.
The meeting was chaired by ADC, Papum Pare and attended by the members of the District Task Force and stakeholders SHP.

No salary for the last one year
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to request to the state government to release the salary of contractual staffs of Panchayati Raj Institutions which has not been paid for the last 10 months. It was very difficult to survive for such a long time without getting salary. We spent whole 2013 with empty pocket.
Therefore, I request to the concern department to release the salary of contractual staffs of Panchayati Raj Institutions as soon as possible, so that they can celebrate this New Year with their dear one in happy mood.

MOU signed and forgotten
Dear Editor,
About ten years ago our village Shergaon had signed an MOU with paramilitary force SSB for establishment of headquarters in the village. Accordingly we allotted vast area of land to authority amid grand musical and traditional events marking successful signing of agreement with the hope that there will be developmental activities in the village. Rejoiced people were hopeful of several opportunities like business and job.
But such is our defense system that till now there is no erection of foundation stone and few SSB personnel’s are staying in the village. However had it been a MOU signed for hydro power projects than picture would have been different because it is beneficial agreement for both the parties. In defense individual is not benefitted rather entire nation is protected. The government should never compromise or negotiate when it comes to national security related projects. I would like to pray to the people in power of SSB and Government for early inception of project, which will be a major defense infrastructure.

It shows that govt. is very much aware about wrong activities of NGOs. It’s time they come down hard on such organizations and union who creates trouble by declaring unnecessary bandh calls.
